Filipino Medical Program
The Filipino Medical Program, under the umbrella of Holy Name Medical Center's Asian Health Services, is designed to meet the medical needs of the Filipino–American community in a culturally–sensitive environment while providing healthcare amenities to make Filipino–American patients and their families feel welcome and comfortable. The program further expands Holy Name's commitment to becoming the hospital of choice for Asian Americans in the New York–New Jersey metropolitan area.
Launched in 2015, it is the first hospital–based program created solely to address the medical needs of the nation's fast–growing Filipino community. In New Jersey, the Filipino community is the state's third largest Asian population.
The Filipino Medical Program offers a network of Filipino–American physicians and such amenities as Filipino cuisine items added to the hospital's Asian menu, Filipino newspapers and cable television channels in patients' rooms, a patient guide printed in Filipino, translation services and a dedicated community hotline. Holy Name's staff includes dozens of Filipinos, who share the same culture and language and help many patients from the community feel more comfortable and welcome.
Holy Name's clinicians and staff members in the Filipino Medical Program are not only focused on treatment, but also preventive services. They work with various community and faith–based organizations to provide free health screenings, including diabetes, cholesterol, blood pressure, BMI/body composition and other support services such as helping with Affordable Care Act enrollment.
