Bariatric Support Group

Program Details: After bariatric surgery, it is very common for patients to experience a slight to significant sense of depression. Though often temporary, these feelings can persist. The Bariatric Support Group of Holy Name provides emotional support for patients who have undergone Gastric Band, Gastric Bypass, and Sleeve-Gastrectomy and their families. Topics of discussion include getting back on track, mindfulness, the role of exercise after surgery, body image, self-sabotaging behaviors, nutrition, and dealing with significant others. The bariatric support group also serves as a buddy system for patients, encouraging participation in events like exercise or attending support groups.

Cost: Free, registration is preferred, however, walk-ins are welcome. Call 201-833-3336 for more information.

Location: Holy Name Medical Center, Marian Hall, Conference Room 1.

Breast Cancer Support and Discussion Group

Program Details: A diagnosis of breast cancer affects every aspect of your life and can generate a wide range of emotions-shock, denial, fear, anger and sadness. The Breast Cancer Support and Discussion group is a vehicle for information, encouragement, and support, facilitated by two clinical psychologists. No matter where you are in your journey-recently diagnosed, undergoing treatment, or many years post-therapy, group support has something to offer. The group meets the first and third Wednesday of every month, from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM at Holy Name Medical Center.
