Holy Name Recognized Again as Highest Rated Hospital for Overall Quality in Bergen, Hudson, Passaic, Essex and Union Counties
Receives 4 stars from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, HospitalCompare.gov

Date: 12/22/2016

For the third consecutive scoring period, Holy Name Medical Center has been recognized as the only top–performing hospital in Bergen, Hudson, Passaic, Essex and Union Counties, according to the recently released "Star Ratings" issued by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for Overall Quality. The rating includes 64 quality measures in the routine care an individual receives when being treated for heart attacks and pneumonia, and other benchmarks that focus on hospital–acquired infections and readmissions.

Holy Name is one of only ten top hospitals in the state to receive four stars, according to rankings by CMS. In the last ranking, issued in October, Holy Name was also the only hospital to receive four stars in Bergen, Hudson, Passaic, Essex and Union Counties for the scoring period of 2015–2016.

"This third recognition by CMS demonstrates Holy Name's continued commitment to provide high quality, affordable healthcare in a transparent, cost–effective manner," says Michael Maron, President and CEO, Holy Name Medical Center. "These rankings give consumers important metrics that allow them to make more educated healthcare decisions."

CMS created the hospital star ratings system as a part of their website, HospitalCompare.gov – which provides patients with hospital quality data – to increase patient satisfaction, transparency and boost consumer empowerment in making healthcare decisions. The website serves to provide consumers with the information they need to make informed care decisions by promoting hospital quality data transparency.

"We are proud that Holy Name has been once again recognized to be among the state's highest rated hospitals by CMS," said Sheryl Slonim, DNP, RN–BC, NEA–BC, APN–C – Executive Vice President, Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer. "We're setting the standard for patient–centered care in our community."

"We are pleased to be among the top performing hospitals in New Jersey," said Adam Jarrett, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Holy Name Medical Center. "We credit our skilled physicians, nurses and ancillary staff for their commitment to our patients."
