Test of Essential Academic Skills

All applicants must take the Test of Essential Academic Skills (ATI TEAS) entrance exam as part of the application process.

The required ATI TEAS takes approximately 3 1/2 hours and has four sections of multiple-choice questions which measure basic essential skills in:

  • Reading - comprehension and inferences/conclusions (40 items, 50 minutes)
  • Math - whole numbers, metric conversion, fractions, decimals, algebraic equations, percentages, and ratio/proportion (45 items, 56 minutes)
  • Science - science reasoning and knowledge, biology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology, basic physical principles and general science (30 items, 38 minutes)
  • English and Language Usage - punctuation, grammar, sentence structure, contextual words, and spelling (55 items, 65 minutes)

(Please make sure the test contains all four components).

How do I register for the ATI TEAS?

Applicants must register for the ATI TEAS Nursing Exam on the website, www.atitesting.com. The ATI TEAS is offered at HNMC School of Nursing and at other designated PSI centers (ATI approved Testing Sites). If an applicant wishes to repeat the ATI TEAS, they must wait one year to re-take the exam.

How do I prepare for the ATI TEAS

Applicants should study for the exam. For more information on the ATI TEAS and studying preparation, visit www.atitesting.com. ATI's website provides information on purchasing study material, a study guide and a practice exam.

Once you submit your online application, you will have 30 days to send your official TEAS results and official transcripts of all schools attended ( high school, colleges and technical schools).

NOTE: In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, the School of Nursing will make reasonable accommodations for students requiring special accommodations for testing.

Applicants requiring special accommodations for testing must submit verifying documentation to the school with their admission application to Holy Name School of Nursing prior to registering for the ATI TEAS.
