Raphael Longobardi, MD

Chief of the Division of Orthopedic Surgery

Raphael S. F. Longobardi, MD, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and athletic injuries especially to the shoulder, elbow, and knee. He is Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery at Holy Name Medical Center, having been a member of Holy Name's medical staff since 1996. He is also an Assistant Professor of Clinical Orthopaedic Surgery at NYU-Langone Medical Center.

Dr. Longobardi has had the privilege of caring for numerous collegiate and professional sports teams. His experience ranges from assistant team physician with the NY Islanders Hockey Team, University of Tennessee athletic teams, Minor League (AA) Baseball and Hockey Teams (ECHL), to Team Physician for the NY-NJ MetroStars (MLS) and Assistant Team Physician/Consultant with the Florida Marlins Baseball Team (MLB and the 2003 World Series Champions). Most recently, Dr. Longobardi served as Team Physician for the 2009 New Jersey-Northeast High School All-Star Classic Football Game. Also since 2009, he has served as a team physician for Bergen Catholic High School's athletic programs. He remains a consultant for the University of Tennessee sports teams, as well as for NFL, MLB and MLS players.

J. Christopher Mendler, MD

Medical Director, Sports Medicine

Dr Mendler is board certified in sports medicine with over 15 years of clinical experience in sports medicine. Practice settings have included a private sports medicine practice, as well as hospital based and collegiate based sports medicine programs.

Over the years, Dr Mendler has had the opportunity to work with athletes of all levels and abilities, and has had the privilege of serving as team physician for high school, college, elite and professional athletes. He served as the US Team Physician for USA-Triathlon for the 1999 World Championships Long Course Triathlon, held in Sweden. Along with a team of colleagues from Holy Name Medical Center, he provided care to the 2012 US Championship Ironman Triathlon, hosted in New York and New Jersey.

Dr Mendler currently serves as the team physician for several area high schools and colleges in the Bergen County area.
