Cardiac Rehabilitation

Cardiac Rehabilitation Center

Whether you are recuperating from angioplasty, need to improve your heart's functioning, or plan to reduce your risk factors for cardiovascular disease, the Cardiac Rehabilitation Center has programs designed to move you in the right direction toward wellness.

The Cardiac Rehabilitation Center is one component of Holy Name's comprehensive cardiac services, which received a five-star rating from HealthGrades, an Internet benchmarking service that rates health care institutions throughout the country. Featuring a comfortable, friendly environment, state-of-the-art technology, and a highly skilled staff of cardiac experts, the Cardiac Rehabilitation Center boasts an award-winning program that is certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.

Under the direction of a board-certified cardiologist, the cardiac rehab team includes certified cardiac registered nurses and exercise physiologists. These cardiac rehab specialists develop and lay out a closely monitored exercise regimen and lifestyle management program that is designed just for you. With the assistance of a dietitian, diabetes educator, pharmacist, and psychologist, additional counseling and knowledge enhancement will help you on your way to recovery.
The Cardiac Rehabilitation Center offers programs in two phases:
  • Phase I is a 12-week program comprising one-hour sessions held three times a week. It is designed specifically for patients with stable angina or those recovering from a heart attack, coronary bypass surgery, valve replacement, heart transplant, or interventional procedures such as angioplasty and/or stent placement. Phase II focuses on recovery and wellness and encompasses a closely monitored exercise regimen and lifestyle management program. It is covered by most health insurances.
  • Phase II is a self-pay program that's designed for patients who have completed the phase II monitored program and for those interested in preventing heart disease. Anyone who has one or more of the following risk factors for cardiovascular disease is a candidate for the program: family history, elevated cholesterol, hypertension, obesity, diabetes, smoking, physical inactivity, and a stressful lifestyle. Patients come three times each week to exercise in an atmosphere that provides knowledge, supports changes, promotes perseverance, embraces hope, and incorporates laughter as the patient moves toward wellness.
Our first-rate gym is equipped with treadmills, bikes, airdynes, rowers, nu-step machines, an elliptical, and arm ergometer, and free weights. Locker rooms and showers are available.
