Practical Nurse (PN) Program Admission Procedure

Admission Application

Submit an on-line application form. A $75 non-refundable application fee is required. www.holyname.org/schoolofnursing/apply.aspx.

Attendance at a School of Nursing Information Session

Register online and attend a mandatory School of Nursing Information Session. Each session lasts approximately 90 minutes and provides the prospective student with important information about the School of Nursing and programs offered. www.holyname.org/schoolofnursing/open-houses.aspx.

Nursing Program Admission Examination (TEAS)

The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS), a standardized nursing entrance examination, is administered to measure general academic ability, including math skills, reading comprehension and science knowledge. Candidates for the PN Program must complete the ATI TEAS Admission exam with a minimum composite score of 50%. Student must register for the TEAS exam in advance. Official Transcripts

Submit official high school transcript or GED scores and/or official transcripts from ALL post-secondary colleges, universities, or technical schools attended to the School of Nursing admission office. A minimum grade of "C" or 70 is required to receive transfer credit for all general education and science courses. In addition, transferred science courses required for the PN Program nursing curriculum must have been completed within the last ten years. This program does not accept transfer credits for nursing course work from other academic institutions. Any applicant with 2 or more nursing course failures is ineligible to apply for this program.

Key Application Steps

  1. Completion of an on-line application form with a $75 non-refundable application fee is required.
  2. Contact ALL schools attended including high school/GED and have the schools mail or electronically email the official transcripts to the school of nursing. (Attn: Admissions Office, 333 Hudson Terrace Englewood Cliffs, NJ 07632) or email school@hnmcson.org
  3. Mandatory attendance at a School of Nursing Information Session prior to application deadline. To pre-register for an upcoming session, please refer to the Information Session tab on our website.
  4. Register to take the TEAS exam www.atitesting.com/teas/register. Make sure the TEAS include all four components: English, Reading, Science and Math.
  5. Obtain an ATI TEAS composite score of 50% or higher for PN Program admission consideration.
  6. To review your admission checklist login to: hnmcsonis.jenzabarcloud.com. Input the user name and pin# you created when you applied to the School of Nursing.
  7. Admission application deadline is April 17, 2025. All steps in the admission application process must be complete and submitted by the application deadline.
