Exploration of the methods and applications of psychology; introduction to research techniques, concepts, theories, and findings about normal and abnormal behavior. (3 lecture hours).

Comprehensive examination of the basic principles, stages and aspects of human growth and development from birth to senescence. (3 lecture hours).
Co-Requisites: PS-151 with a minimum grade of C
Introduction and practice in writing and reading English prose with special emphasis upon individual development. The course progresses from personal experiences to critical writing and research and includes individual instruction and mandatory laboratory work (in CALL) in English grammar spelling and sentence structure. Special use is made of peer group discussion and other non-traditional teaching techniques. (3 lecture hours).

First Semester (15 weeks Fall semester course)
This is an introductory course for the student who is entering into the nursing program. The course emphasizes the role of the practical nurse, the scope of practice, and different levels of education for a nurse and the understanding ofthe roles in the health care system. The course is also designed to assist students with strategies on how to be successful in a nursing program; time management skills, medical terminology, medication math, and test taking skills. Professionalism in health care will be discussed. Development of critical thinking skills will be emphasized throughout the course. (2 lecture hours).
Prerequisites: Formal acceptance to Nursing Program.
Co-Requisites: Anatomy & Physiology I, English Composition, Introduction to Psychology with a minimum grade of C.
Second Semester (15 weeks Spring Semester Course)
This course will introduce the student to the fundamental concepts of nursing practice and the application of the concepts with a focus on wellness and health promotion across the lifespan. The application of knowledge and skills occurs in the nursing laboratories and clinical settings. The clinical setting will be at affiliated long term care facilities. (8 lecture hours/6 clinical laboratory hours).
Prerequisites: PN-100 with a minimum grade of C.
Co-requisite: Anatomy & Physiology II with a minimum grade of C.
Third Semester (15 Weeks Summer Semester Course)
This course builds on the previous semester courses to further refine the concepts of evidenced based practice with application to the care of diverse patients across the livespan with uncomplicated acute and chronic disorders in medical surgical, maternal child and pediatric patients. Application of knowledge and skills occurs in the nursing laboratories, simulation, and a variety of clinical settings. (5 lecture hours/9 clinical laboratory hours).
Prerequisites: PN 100, PN 101 with a minimum grade of C.
Co-requisite: Lifespan Development with a minimum grade of C.
Forth Semester (15 weeks Fall Semester Course)
This course builds on the previous nursing courses to further refine and apply the concepts of nursing practice in the care of diverse clients with uncomplicated/complicated acute and chronic conditions and mental health disorders across the lifespan. Application of knowledge and skills occurs in the nursing laboratories,simulation, and a variety of clinical settings. (8 lecture hours/12 clinical laboratory hours).
Prerequisites: Successful completion of all previous curriculum courses with a minimum grade of C.
