The mission of the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Holy Name Medical Center is to train excellent, well-rounded, and compassionate physicians who draw purpose and joy from providing exemplary patient care, pursuing and teaching lifelong learning and development, and fostering well-being in themselves and others. The Residency Program endeavors to train our diverse residents to be well-equipped to promote the health and well-being of those they serve and lead, while also taking care of their well-being so they can enjoy and sustain long, meaningful, and fruitful careers in the ever-evolving landscape of the US healthcare system.

Internal Medicine Residency Program
The IM Residency Program at Holy Name uses the 4+2 block scheduling model throughout the three years of training. Four-week inpatient rotations (inpatient wards, night float, ICU) alternate with two-week blocks of continuity care clinic, Career/Calling and/or Skills Building Electives, and ambulatory selectives. With this cadence of rotations, we have structured the schedule so as to minimize conflict between inpatient and outpatient responsibilities and maximize our Residents' quality of life and wellbeing, giving them time to recharge and create bandwidth to pursue personal and professional endeavors.
The Holy Name Internal Medicine Residency Program fosters, supports, and requires scholarly activity for all our Residents under the mentorship and supervision of our Program Faculty. We believe that scholarly activity in Residency is one of the best foundations for providing excellent patient care, practicing lifelong learning and improvement, building the narrative for one's future career and contribution to the Specialty, cultivating one's professional wellbeing, and bolstering social connection and collaboration with colleagues and the academic community. All our Residents will be required to pursue and complete scholarly activities during their 3-year training in the form of either: (1) a scientific research abstract OR (2) two abstracts (clinical vignettes, case reports, and/or quality improvement projects) submitted during Residency. Residents will receive financial support for approved scholarly activities, including presenting abstracts and publishing peer-reviewed articles.
We participate in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). All applications will be accepted and reviewed through ERAS. All Residency positions will be filled through the NRMP.
National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) Code: 2419140C0
The Internal Medicine Residency Program at Holy Name utilizes a holistic review framework, reviewing applicants' experiences, attributes, competencies, and academic metrics. Our Program is participating in signaling. While we preferentially review applications from those who signal our Program, we also consider applicants that do not signal our Program.
