About

Dr. Ngoc Thai is the Chair of Surgery at Holy Name and a liver specialist trained in transplant surgery. His approach to care is to treat every patient with the highest quality care and compassion, and he says his favorite part of being a surgeon is getting to know his patients.

Dr. Thai earned his medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh and completed his residency at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York, where he was Chief Resident. He completed a Transplant Surgery Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh’s Thomas E. Starzl Transplantation Institute, where he worked directly with Dr. Thomas Starzl, the father of liver transplantation.

Dr. Thai has lectured on and authored many articles about patopancreatobiliary conditions. He is proud to be at Holy Name because it provides not only high-quality clinical care but also treats each patient as an individual.

Dr. Thai is a member of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons and the American Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association. For 12 years, he was a transplant surgeon for the U.S. Army Reserve, where he earned the rank of Major.
