The BirthPlace

Fun Fact: When a baby is born at Holy Name Medical Center, the lullaby "Hush Little Baby" chimes over the public address system, reminding everyone of the miracle of life.

The BirthPlace

We know how much you, as a mom-to-be, want to feel safe, comforted and confident as you deliver your baby. At The BirthPlace, our highly trained staff is committed to providing innovative, culturally-sensitive care for both you and your baby, from pregnancy through delivery and discharge. Private mother/baby suites make you feel at home while relaxed in the knowledge that skilled and experienced physicians are prepared for any emergency that may arise.

Specialty Services:

  • At Holy Name, our board-certified obstetricians/gynecologists, anesthesiologists, pediatricians, perinatologists and neonatologists are available on-site 24-hours a day, 7 days a week.

  • All our private mother/baby suites as well as our labor, delivery and recovery rooms are in the same unit as the nursery, so you are never far from your newborn. Moms choose how much time they spend with their infant.

  • Our experienced nurses who help you during labor and delivery are cross-trained to also provide neonatal care, offering a consistency of care for your newborn.

  • Holy Name uses a state-of-the-art infant security system that gives you peace of mind.

  • Birthing partners are welcome to spend the night and flexible visiting hours accommodate family and friends.

  • Room service is available so moms don’t have to wait for a meal schedule.

  • Our Cord Blood Stem Cell Program enables parents to preserve and store the umbilical cord blood of their newborn, which could later aid treatment in the event of a life-threatening illness.

  • Cultural and religious needs are met whenever possible, including dietary requests, modest patient clothing, foreign language interpretation services and an appropriate place for religious services.

  • Free educational and support programs, in English and Spanish, are available from pregnancy through postpartum.

  • We encourage all moms to take advantage of our complimentary lactation consultation after discharge.

  • Hydrotherapy – soaking in a relaxing tub of water during labor – is available.

  • Certified nurse-midwives are on staff.

  • Moms are welcome to bring their doulas.
