The BirthPlace's Level III Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) provides highly specialized, around-the-clock, care for babies born prematurely, critically ill, or requiring surgery. This keeps babies close to their parents without the need for transfer to another facility.

Babies in our Level III NICU are cared for 24/7 by a multidisciplinary team of experts:

The Parent Room provides a home-like space with a couch that converts to a pull-out bed, private bathroom, and easy access to NICU specialists before discharge.
Parent Room: A Smooth Transition Home
Prior to discharge, parents can stay overnight in our Parent Room–an opportunity to bond and gain confidence in caring for your baby before heading home. Parents will still have access to all NICU specialists for added guidance, offering added peace of mind and support. Ask your nurse about options and availability.
Visiting Hours and Guidelines
The following are in place to ensure a safe, healing environment for all babies in our secure unit.
- Parents: Welcome 24/7 with an ID band matching their baby's band
- Family & Friends (Age 14+): May visit with a parent present, limited to three people, one of whom must be a parent
- Health & Safety:
- Any visitors showing signs of illness may not enter the unit
- If parents or designated guardians feel unwell or show signs of illness, we recommend you identify an alternate caregiver or partner with our staff to support your baby
Visitors will have access to private, secure lockers and a space to sanitize their hands before entering the unit.
Our NICU uses the Eat, Sleep, Console method, a compassionate, evidence-based approach focused on comfort and family involvement.

Eat, Sleep, Console is a compassionate, evidence-based approach for babies experiencing opiate withdrawal. It focuses on soothing measures-like swaddling, skin-to-skin contact, and parental presence-before using medication, helping promote comfort, bonding, and healthy development.
Donor Milk Program: Nutrition For Every Baby
Holy Name's NICU offers a donor milk program to ensure that even the most fragile newborns receive optimal nutrition when a mother's milk isn't available or is in short supply. Human breast milk-whether from a baby's mother or a screened donor-provides essential immune protection and can reduce the risk of complications.
