Omar Bellorin, MD, FACS, FASMBS, has joined Holy Name as the Director of GI Metabolic, Bariatric and Robotic Surgery. Dr. Bellorin, certified by the American Board of Surgery, is a leading bariatric and robotic surgeon who has completed over 1200 robotic surgeries including bariatric and general surgery.
"Dr. Bellorin is a talented surgeon and phenomenal educator. He is going to play an integral role in our new Graduate Medical Education program," said Michael Maron, President and CEO, Holy Name. A dedicated surgeon born in Venezuela, Dr. Bellorin completed his first residency at the University Hospital of Caracas/Central University of Venezuela, his research fellowship at Cleveland Clinic Florida, followed by his second residency at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens. He completed his fellowship in advanced GI and minimally invasive surgery, including bariatric surgery, robotics, abdominal wall hernias, reflux disease, gallbladder, colon and gastric cancer, at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical College. Dr. Bellorin has been recognized with several prestigious awards and recognitions for his scholarship in surgery, patient experience, and teaching.
