Holy Name Medical Center Achieves Fourth Magnet® Recognition for Commitment to Nursing Excellence

Holy Name Medical Center today announced it has received its fourth Magnet® Recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Magnet is the most prestigious distinction for nursing excellence and quality patient care.

Holy Name was also recognized for Magnet Exemplars® – or best practices – for exemplary nursing professional practice in these areas: hospital acquired pressure injuries (HAPI), falls with injury, catheter associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI), and peripheral intravenous infiltrations. Holy Name outperformed its national cohorts during eight of the recent quarters on 100% of the units evaluated.

The American Nurses Credentialing Center's Magnet Recognition Program® distinguishes health care organizations that meet rigorous standards for nursing excellence. The Magnet Recognition Program® will continually elevate patient care around the world in an environment where nurses, in collaboration with the interprofessional team, flourish by setting the standard for excellence through leadership, scientific discovery and dissemination and implementation of new knowledge.

Health care organizations must reapply for Magnet recognition every four years based on adherence to Magnet concepts and demonstrated improvements in patient care and quality. An organization reapplying for Magnet recognition must provide documented evidence to demonstrate how staff members sustained and improved Magnet concepts, performance and quality over the four-year period since the organization received its most recent recognition.
