Curriculum
Holy Name's PGY1 Pharmacy Residency ASHP-accredited Program is a 12-month intensive, structured program based on ASHP accreditation standards for the comprehensive professional development of clinical pharmacists. It builds upon the knowledge and skills that individuals have gained from an accredited Doctor of Pharmacy degree program and provides practical experience demonstrating the ability to manage patient care and achieve optimal drug therapy outcomes. Through exposure to a wide variety of both required and elective rotations, educational conferences, and participation in hospital committees, the resident acquires competencies that can be applied to any position, in any practice setting.
The PGY1 resident gains competency in four areas, encompassing multiple practical and scholarly activities:
R1: Patient care: direct patient care, staffing/outreach activities
R2: Advancing practice and improving patient care: project, practice management learning experience
R3: Leadership and management: clinical leadership, practice management learning experience, project, staffing
R4: Teaching, education and dissemination of knowledge: formal presentations/inservices, teaching certificate program, co-precepting pharmacy students, direct patient care

Residents must spend at least two-thirds of the program in direct patient care activities. No more than one-third of the 12 month program (17 weeks) can be dedicated to a specific patient disease state and population.
Benefits
- Yearly Stipend $60,000
